Working with our partners, AMI and EsF
Most recently, EsF Hyderabad began working with a minorities group to bring Montessori education to their children. This work included providing such basics as uniforms and shoes for the children, and with both the children and parents' help creating Montessori materials, including a transportable Montessori in a Box. Costing only a few hundred dollars, trained Montessori teachers can easily transport these classroom materials to students. These Montessori in a Box have applications around the world, from rural India to the migrating tribes in East Africa to remote villages in the Andes or jungles of South America.
The demand and need for trained Montessori teachers is growing exponentially. In 2017, in East Africa more than 50 individuals received in-depth Montessori training. These new teachers came from all over the region, returning after their training to their communities where Montessori principles were previously unknown to begin schools. Training teachers in Montessori principles and pedagogy is expensive, but offers the greatest opportunity to take education to children who otherwise would have none or only marginal learning.
